The Meru National Polytechnic held a graduation ceremony to celebrate the achievements of 5,050 students, a significant milestone in the institution’s history.  The ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary State Department of Technical and Vocational Training, Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria, representing the Cabinet Secretary of Education.  This year’s graduating class included the first cohort to graduate under the new Competency Based Assessment System (CBET), which emphasizes practical skills needed by the industry.

The CBET program equips students with relevant skills, ensuring they are job-ready and capable of contributing effectively to their chosen fields. This approach to education is a model for other institutions in the country to emulate.

The project has provided high-quality education and training in areas such as civil engineering, Gypsum installation, and networking. The success of these students highlights the EASTRIP project’s impact on bridging the skills gap and meeting the demands of the modern workforce.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary emphasized the importance of technical and vocational education in driving economic development. She commended the graduates for their hard work and encouraged them to use their newly acquired skills to excel in their respective industries.
