Regional Policy Framework on Technical and Vocational Education and Training Integration

Publications

The Regional Policy Framework on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Integration (RPFTI) was developed and published under the East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP). The framework seeks to harmonise TVET systems in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania to promote regional integration, enhance quality, and strengthen the relevance of skills training.

The RPFTI provides a structured approach for aligning qualifications, occupational standards, curricula, and quality assurance systems across partner states. It emphasises mobility of learners, trainers, and skilled labour; promotes collaboration between TVET institutions, industry, and governments; and advocates for sustainable financing, innovation, and digitalisation in training.

The RPFTI tackles systemic challenges such as inadequate capacity, outdated training tools, and inequitable access, creating a strong foundation for a skilled, mobile, and competitive workforce that will drive economic growth and industrialisation across East Africa and beyond.
