In a proactive move to enhance its visibility and foster a positive brand image, the KenGen Geothermal Training Centre participated in the 3rd edition of the Geo-East African Conference and Expo (GEOACE 2024). This prestigious event took place from the 21st to the 23rd of February 2024 at the Panari Sky Centre in Nairobi. With the overarching theme, ‘Beyond 2030: East Africa’s Geo-Resources Portfolio for Economic Development and Energy Transitions,’ the conference provided a platform for industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders to delve into critical discussions on the region’s geothermal resources and their role in shaping the future.
The KenGen Geothermal Training Centre’s active participation in GEOACE 2024 was driven by a strategic goal to not only stay abreast of industry developments but also to showcase its commitment to excellence in geothermal energy. By engaging in this important event, the Training Centre aimed to share insights, exchange knowledge, and network with key players in the various sectors of geothermal, oil and gas and natural extractive/mining.

The platform also provided an opportunity for the Centre to market its curriculum and demand driven programmes which will increase employment prospects of graduates in priority sector six months after graduation. It was also an avenue to position EASTRIP as a project that supports the development of demand-driven skills for economic development and youth employment. Student enrolment is expected to be increased at the institute in programmes aimed at meeting skill needs in priority sector of power and energy.
During the conference, the KenGen Geothermal Training Centre actively engaged in knowledge exchange through presentations, workshops, and interactive sessions. Experts from the Training Centre shared valuable insights into geothermal technology, best practices in energy exploration, and the role of skilled workforce development in advancing the geothermal sector. The event also provided a platform for networking, fostering connections with industry leaders, government representatives, and fellow professionals. These connections are crucial for staying informed about industry trends, exploring potential collaborations, and contributing to the collective advancement of the geothermal energy field.
Participating in the Geo-East African Conference and Expo 2024 was a strategic move for the KenGen Geothermal Training Centre, reinforcing its commitment to excellence, sustainable practices, and active contribution to East Africa’s energy landscape. By sharing knowledge, engaging in discussions, and networking with industry peers, the Training Centre not only enhanced its visibility but also played a vital role in shaping the narrative of East Africa’s geo-resources portfolio for economic development and energy transitions beyond 2030.
