According to Ms Risper Kandie the centre leader and project coordinator for the East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP), the training is also in line with one of the project’s objectives to build capacity of the institute’s managers and trainers. It is an opportunity to upgrade their technical knowledge and practical skills to promote student-centred pedagogy and competency. “KenGen is committed to ensuring that its workforce not only possesses technical expertise but can also effectively share that knowledge with others,” Ms. Kadie said.

Trainers from KenGen GTC at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology during the training on pedagogy.
The training programme covered several core components such as adapting teaching methods to cater to diverse audiences, instructional techniques, such as hands-on learning, collaborative projects, and real-world applications, integrating digital tools into training sessions that enhance the learning experience and make information more accessible. Classroom management was another focus area, equipping trainers with the skills needed to create a positive and productive learning environment.
On completion, the participants will be registered as trainers to implement CBET programs and be registered by TVETA in accordance with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Act No. 29 of 2013.
