Holeta Polytechnic College has entered into an agreement with the Institute of Ethiopian Standards (IES) to implement the ISO 17025:2017 Laboratory Management System. This agreement aims to provide technical support for the college in establishing effective ISO 17025:2017 management systems.

As part of this initiative, a training session was conducted from December 9th to 13th, 2024, at Holeta Polytechnic College. The training involved 25 participants, primarily from the agro-processing department, along with selected instructors chosen by the College Management for their commitment and passion for the project. The training was facilitated by a consultant from the Institute of Ethiopian Standards.

The training was designed to benefit laboratory managers, staff, and other stakeholders by enabling them to understand the benefits of laboratory accreditation, grasp the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, become familiar with the steps needed for implementation, recognize the types of documentation required and learn how to prepare a laboratory for both internal and external assessments and audits.

This initiative marks an important step in enhancing the capabilities and standards of laboratories at Holeta Polytechnic College.
