Hawassa Polytechnic College’s Fashion Show Displays Creativity and Innovation in Garment Design

A display of creativity and talent took center stage at Hawassa Polytechnic College’s recent fashion show. The event, held on the college campus, featured an array of traditional and modern designs curated by trainees in the Fashion Design program.

It featured invited guests from Hawassa University, the Regional Bureau, industry representatives, and the college community. Trainees presented their own traditional and modern designs, developed with the guidance of their trainers.

Hawassa Polytechnic College aims to excel in the fields of Textile and Garment Technology, driven by funding from the World Bank under the EASTRIP project. Within the Garment Technology department, the college offers programs in garment production and fashion design from Levels I to V.

Recently, the Fashion Design program received a significant boost through EASTRIP’s support, which involved revising the curriculum was revised, resulting in the enrollment of over 151 trainees. This has led to noticeable improvements in the quality of training and alignment with market needs in this sector.

To provide trainees with dedicated space to develop and showcase their designs, a fashion show team was formed. The fashion show highlighted the creativity and skills being nurtured at Hawassa Polytechnic College, demonstrating the positive impact of the EASTRIP project on the institution’s ability to deliver relevant and high-quality education in garment technology.
