The Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT)-Mwanza Campus joined the rest of the world to commemorate the “International Day of Elimination of Vience against Women”. The campus conducted an educational seminar for students aimed at building their capacity on various issues related to gender based violence and how to desist from engaging in such acts.

Facilitating at the seminar, the chairperson of the gender desk at DIT-Mwanza, Ms. Consolata Ndimba, emphasized the need of empowering students to understand and actively participate in combating gender-based violence.
”As a gender desk team at DIT-Mwanza we have decided to conduct this seminar to empower our students and build their capacity on how to oppose issues related to gender violence as we believe these skills will guide them to achieve their goals during and after completion of their studies”. said Ms. Ndimba.
In addition, the representative of the DIT-Mwanza Campus Director, Mr. Shija Mbitila, who is also a member of the Gender desk emphasized that the training received by students would help them understand themselves better and actively engage in opposing gender-based violence.

The 16 days of activism usually climaxing on the International Human Rights Day are used as organised strategy by individuals and institutions around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
DIT Mwanza is committed to empowering students to pursue their academic dreams without hindrance from acts of violence.
