In an effort to foster to support skills development and foster regional integration, Dire Dawa Polytechnic College is currently conducting a second round of short-term training in electronics and computer maintenance for 10 students from Somali. Increasing enrolment of regional students, is one of the requirements of the East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP).

To accommodate the regional students, the College has made arrangements for temporary dormitories, a cafeteria, and classrooms. These facilities were established using materials produced by the College itself, including beds, food, and sanitary amenities. This proactive approach demonstrates the college’s commitment to enrolling regional students even before the completion of the project’s construction.

Notably, the college has already successfully trained, graduated, and certified 18 students from Galkacyo Vocational Training Center in the first round of this programme.
