The main aim of the mission to Uganda was to explore the possibilities and existing opportunities in establishing partnerships with similar training institutions within Uganda. Particularly, KIHBT was keen on formalizing a partnership with the Mt. Elgon Labour Based Training Centre (MELTC) since it is also noted that MELTC and KIHBT are both signatories to the General Agreement of Cooperation which was made among 13 labour-based training institutions in Africa. Particularly, and in addition to other areas, MELTC expressed a desire for further collaboration in cobblestone paving technology training.

In addition to MELTC, the delegation from KIHBT separately held successful deliberations with Uganda Technical College (UTC) – Lira and Uganda Technical College (UTC) – Elgon. Each institution agreed to formalize their discussions with KIHBT through the preparation of Cooperation Agreements or Memoranda of Understanding. The KIHBT team also had an opportunity to visit several training projects by MELTC and the centres of excellence that had been built within UTC Lira and UTC Elgon under the Uganda Skills Development Project (USDP).
