Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof. George Magoha together with the Principal Secretary to the State Department for TVET, Dr. Julius Juan visited Kisumu National Polytechnic to assess its preparedness towards the reopening. This follows periods of lockdown due to the COVID19 pandemic.
Prof. Magoha and his team noted that the institution had put in place thorough measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. Some of the key measures instituted include setting up of multiple hand washing points across the institution and the installation of automatic hand sanitizers and also social distancing which is well practiced in the lecture rooms, laboratories ,hostels and the kitchen.
The team noted that members of both teaching and non-teaching put on facial masks all the time when undertaking their routine activities. Also its was noted that thorough inspection of body temperatures is being carried out by the security team at all entrances which has made it possible for the institution to curb the spread of the COVID 19.
