Kombolcha Polytechnic College in Ethiopia Makes Progress in Construction of Training Facilities and Acquiring Equipment

Kombolcha Polytechnic College in Ethiopia, with support from the East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) funded by the World Bank, has made progress in construction of the Regional Flagship TVET Institute in Automative Technology.

The construction of both the workshop and administration buildings is underway, with the overall completion rate standing at 17.82%. In addition, the procurement of workshop and laboratory equipment is being done in parallel, with 87% of the expected workshop equipment already secured.

Furthermore, EASTRIP is committed to ensuring that all projects adhere to rigorous environmental and social safeguarding standards. An Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) has been conducted and approved by the relevant government body.

The contractor has also developed an Environmental and Social Safeguarding Plan, and a Code of Conduct agreement has been signed between the contractor and the client, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable and responsible development.
