Kombolcha Polytechnic College, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Management Institute, has trained its management team and selected members from the industry advisory board on transformation leadership and strategic management.
One the prerequisites for Kombolcha Polytechnic College to become center of excellence is to create a workforce that will keep pace with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and practices required by the contemporary world.
In connection with this, the members of the college management and selected members from the Industrial Advisory Board of the college attended the training on transformational and strategic management leadership held at the Ethiopian Management Institute, Addis Ababa.

Dr. zinarie Mamo, a renowned trainer at the Ethiopian Management Institute, said Kombolcha Polytechnic College was badly damaged due to the conflict occurred in the area, and confessed that skilled manpower is an essential component and best solution to take the college out of the crisis in a short period of time, for which this leadership training could be considered as part of the solution.
Dr. Zinarie lauded the college for benefiting from East Africa Skills Transformation Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) received from the World Bank to become a center of excellence.
Dr. Zinarie told participants that transformation begins within the individual leader. “He who cannot change himself and his family cannot change institution and the community at large.” He urged every trainee to focus on personal transformation first.
According to participants, the training provided them with a wealth of knowledge, skills, new practices and experiences on transformational leadership. They further commented that leaders should pay special attention to the need for self-change before leading an institution in a transformative way.
The week-long training came to an end with the award of certificates to 15 trainees who successfully attended and completed the training session.
