DIT Mwanza visits secondary schools in Tanzania to promote TVET courses among female students

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programme sponsored by Centre for Excellence in Leather Processing and Allied Technologies (CELPAT) under EASTRIP visited secondary schools to encourage school girls join technical programmes offered by Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) Mwanza Campus. The participants visited 21 secondary schools in four regions in Tanzania including Arusha, Mara, Mwanza and Shinyanga.

At Banjika Secondary School, the Headmistress, Ms. Ritha Stephen thanked DIT for their school visitation program which will encourage girls to take up science subjects and to enhance their academic performance. “I offer my sincere congratulations to the leadership of DIT for coming to talk to our daughters and you have seen the way they have shown interest in science studies. I believe it will increase their performance,” said Ritha.

The DIT Team Leader noted said: “We have reached out to them today so as to advise them, that there are many opportunities in Science subjects, example, Civil and Electrical works. In that view, Science is possible for girls, and so we thought it would be good to have an audience with them and avail those opportunities.”
